An Unexpected Journey

My husband, affectionately known as “EJ”, is well known for both his community spirt and love of swimming. When he recently decided to combine the two to raise money for people living with multiple sclerosis, little did we know how personal his endeavour was about to become. All is explained in this email EJ sent to his work colleagues……

As most of you know, I’ve joined the “LendLease Lappers” and will participate in the MS Mega Swim on 30th April 2016. The event raises funds and awareness for people living with Multiple Sclerosis to access vital MS Support Services. Services such as MS Peer Support, connecting people who are newly diagnosed with those who have lived with multiple sclerosis for a number of years, or the MS Employment Support program keeping Aussies living with multiple sclerosis in the work force.

My timing couldn’t be better for joining the LL Lappers !!!! Because 6 weeks ago, I was unexpectedly diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis! So get this, I’m swimming for myself!  Haaa…haa…don’t worry, I was swimming before I was diagnosed!

My three team mates and I are swimming the ‘Grave Yard Shift’ (2am – 7am) so if you’d like to support/sponsor the Mega-swim, click here to make a donation. Thanks in advance for your support. EJ

EJ joined the LL Lappers to be part of his company’s community spirt, challenge himself and raise funds for a good cause, but a cause he didn’t know much about at the time. Me, well I volunteered for MS as a young child (my mother worked for MS for years and years) and later on in life had a professional association with MS.

Anyhow, I am proud to report that EJ successfully completed the swim and raised an impressive $44,000 for MS – well done EJ and the LL Lappers!
