We might be in the fourth and final quarter of the year but it is never too late to make the extra effort to boost your fundraising. Here are four top tips for attracting extra donations and ensuring you exceed your fundraising targets in 2017.
Pick up the phone – Focus on high-level or regular donors who have previously given in the lead up to the end of year and personally ask for a donation. As well as attracting last minute support, this exercise can give you valuable feedback on your fundraising efforts and help you better connect with donors.
Send a Booster Letter – If you have an active direct mail appeal, a reminder or booster letter can be an effective way of “boosting” donations. You may wish to update people on the progress of the appeal or share a story about the impact of donations already received.
Use social media – Use social media to remind and motivate supporters to donate before the end of year. There will be a lot of messages about donating out there, so make sure yours stands out and gives people a compelling reason to act quickly.
Ask your staff – Your colleagues are a captive and passionate audience who may surprise you with their generosity. Having staff donations matched by the CEO or Board is an excellent way of encouraging support and building a culture of giving.
