Direct Mail Campaign, Christmas Appeal
Campaign goal set was 25% higher than previous year. This was well exceeded, with great results for Berry Street.
OKP was engaged to provide full-time, in house, Fundraising Manager for 2 years.
This role reported straight to the General Manager; encompassing all areas of fundraising management & strategic direction in entirety. During this time, 'First Aid in Schools', was developed and rolled out to educate Primary School children in first aid practice, whilst key funding was secured from various trusts & foundations; helping to ensure that St John Ambulance Victoria achieved their vision.
Audit and review of Anglicare Victoria’s fundraising and marketing operations.
During this time, the secondment of an OKP staff member to manage Anglicare’s Community Relations team also took place. Over 1000 lapsed donors were reactivated, a bequest program was implemented, with a significant reduction of costs leading to an increase in profitability of fundraising programs; particularly direct mail. Changing of the silo culture and creation of a cohesive, supportive and productive team was also achieved.
Capital Campaign – ‘The Building Better Healthcare Campaign’
OKP proudly worked with West Gippsland Health Care Group leadership to develop the ‘Building Better Healthcare Accommodation Campaign’. This unique campaign is the first of its kind in almost 18 years.
The ‘home away from home’ tagline, successfully captivated the hearts and support that it required to become a reality. The Andrews foundation joined in the early stages and made a huge impact to build inspiration. The Andrews Foundation donated $1 for every $3 raised.
Fundraising & Financial Strategy
OKP are honoured to have worked alongside this small boutique charity to develop their Future Growth Strategy Plan. In the year which followed after this development of the Future Growth Strategy Plan with OKP - the ‘Operation Stitches’ annual report stated;
‘All of these programs provided positive outcomes with strong growth in attendance at all sessions (up to 90%) on the previous year’.
OKP and Operation Stitches created innovative ways to overcome financial challenges.
Sponsorship Program Revitalisation
Following significant government funding cuts, OKP was engaged to revitalize their sponsorship program.
From the outset OKP recognised that the challenge facing them was in finding organisations that would be willing to align themselves with Chunky Move’s untraditional, ‘risky’ identity.
A three tiered sponsorship structure was developed alongside an entertainment package was prepared, in order to be marketed. The outcome of this endeavour proved OKP’s proficiency at matching an organisation with appropriate sponsors; to achieve optimum results.
Outsourcing Fundraising Services
CP Queensland was one of the first charitable organisations to out-source the management of its Fundraising Program. OKP managed its operations for a period of 5 years, back in the 90’s!
CP leadership at the time adopted this strategy, with the primary aim - for the division to become more cost effective and efficient; especially given the fact that the organisation had experienced negative growth in the years prior to OKP’s appointment.
Throughout our relationship the organisation posted record results, especially in the major gifts, direct mail, art union and special events areas.

Over the years OKP has been engaged by Red Cross in Australia and New Zealand. This large international humanitarian and disaster relief organisation has engaged our services where and when needed. We have had the privilege to work in the following areas
Red Cross has extensive fundraising experience and has the capacity to enthuse and engage the community as a whole. When engaged OKPs experience, creativity, energy and tried and tested methodologies add value and external insight.
Dymocks Children's Charities (DCC) is an Australian charity providing high quality books to pre-primary and primary school aged children in priority locations.
Prior to rolling out its agenda and operations nationally, OKP was engaged to conduct an investigation process in order to ascertain their ability to implement the strategic plan throughout Australia. Potential risks and viability were key considerations at the time.
Corporate Engagement Program
The iconic Scouts Jamboree is the Southern Hemisphere’s largest youth residential program. It is a million dollar production that sees thousands of children come together every 3 years.
Increased insurance premiums and logistical costs mean the organisation is increasingly reliant on private funding and support. OKP was contracted for 3 successive events. Each year challenged OKP to realise more Corporate support.
Strategic Counsel & Philanthropic Coaching
Juggling a large budget in any environment is certainly a challenge. When World Vision engaged OKP’s services, the organisation had set an agenda to double its growth.
OKP’s expertise was engaged to enhance a range of functions, including major gifts, direct mail, a donor loyalty program and programs designed to attract new supporters. In delivering our services, our emphasis was to mentor and empower existing personnel; but also to provide high level strategic direction.
OKP’s charter was to establish a Corporate engagement structure, strategy and engagement plan for this flagship charity. Following leadership acceptance of the overall direction and ‘proposition’, our efforts turned to prospecting, negotiating and enlisting financial support.
Together we secured a number of top sponsors encompassing a mix of NZ blue chip companies and a consortium of global companies, with a base or interest in New Zealand’s geographic footprint.

Salvos and OKP have had a long standing association which extends over 20 years.
Together we have broken new ground, tackled emerging challenges and fostered long term connections.
Depending on the Salvos’ objectives and challenges year to year, our work can vary from staff training, strategic planning, direct mail and major gifts, capital campaigns and more recently the re-positioning of the iconic Red Shield Appeal. The blend of the internal and external expertise - has moved forward the organisation’s vision and objectives over the years.
OKP & St Catherine’s partnership commenced in 2014 and continues today as they embrace the broader school community in their fundraising efforts.
Our journey started with the development and execution of a Feasibility Study, and then migrated into the preparation and development of a $4.9m Capital Campaign. We have enjoyed working alongside Marilyn and her dynamic team. They have diligently and proudly navigated this campaign down the success path.Well done team!

Mercy Ships has worked in 70+ countries providing services valued at more than $1 billion, with more than 2.5 million direct beneficiaries. Each year, more than 1,200 volunteers from over 40 nations serve with Mercy Ships.
